Chasing My Passions: Dogs, Miles & Smiles

For years, I sat at my desk, doing work that paid the bills but didn’t feed my soul. Deep down, I craved movement—and connection. Running has always freed my mind, and dogs… they light my heart like nothing else. And over time, I realized I had a third passion: storytelling through social media. Sharing authentic moments, building community, and connecting with others gave me the same spark I felt from running and caring for pups.

This summer, I finally answered that call: I left my job to build a life centered around running, caring for dogs, and creating content that inspires and connects. It wasn’t easy—there were fears and sacrifices—but every day I wake up feeling more alive, more purposeful. Here’s how I took the leap and what I’ve discovered on the other side.

Running Toward, Not Away

Leaving my job wasn’t about escaping—it was about running toward the life I’ve always wanted. For years, I told myself stability mattered more than passion. But every time I laced up for a run, spent time with a dog, or crafted a post that resonated with someone, I felt that spark I was missing.

Running gives me clarity; dogs give me joy; content creation allows me to share both with the world. Together, they remind me what it means to live fully present—and to invite others into that presence. That realization was my turning point. I couldn’t keep waiting for “someday”—it was time to create the life I dreamed about today.

The Leap of Faith

Walking away from a steady paycheck is scary. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. But I also knew that comfort can be a trap. I wanted to live a life where I’m excited to wake up, not one where I’m counting the hours until the day is done.

I leaned on the support of family and friends, took a deep breath, and stepped into the unknown—whether that meant meeting new dogs, logging more miles, or building a community through my content. Sometimes, the hardest part is simply deciding you’re worth the risk.

Where Dogs, Miles & Stories Meet

So why these three? Because they’re all pure, honest, and grounding. Dogs don’t care about yesterday’s mistakes or tomorrow’s worries—they live fully in the moment. Running teaches me the same lesson with every stride. And social media, at its best, is about capturing and sharing those authentic moments so they ripple out and connect with others.

Now, I get to combine them—whether it’s logging miles with four-legged friends, helping pups burn energy, or creating content that celebrates the joy of movement, companionship, and courage. It feels less like “work” and more like alignment with who I am.

The Early Wins & Lessons

Since making the change, there have been challenges—uncertainty, long days, learning new things on the fly—but the wins far outweigh them. My stress has dropped, my joy has multiplied, and my schedule now revolves around things that energize me instead of drain me.

One of my favorite moments so far? A trail run with a pup who had never gone more than a mile before. Watching her ears bounce as she discovered the thrill of running reminded me exactly why I chose this path—and why I love sharing these stories online.

Looking Ahead

I don’t know exactly where this journey will take me—but that’s part of the adventure. What I do know is this: I’m finally living a life that feels true to me. Dogs, running, and storytelling may seem simple, but together, they’ve given me the courage to rewrite my story.

If you’ve ever thought about chasing your passions, my advice is this: don’t wait for the “perfect time.” It doesn’t exist. Start small, start scared, but start. You might be surprised at how everything begins to fall into place once you say yes to yourself.
